Built on Relationships, Driven by Quality

A North Yorkshire-based contract furniture specialist helping businesses, schools and hospitality venues across the UK create spaces that work.

From Northallerton to the Rest of the UK

Switch Contract Furniture is part of Switch Workplace Interiors — a North Yorkshire-based specialist in commercial furniture, workspace design and contract fit-out. We were founded on a simple belief: that every commercial space deserves furniture that's functional, well-made, built for the job and honestly priced.

From our base in Northallerton we work with clients across England, Scotland and Wales — start-ups taking their first office, schools and universities refurbishing for a new academic year, hotels and restaurants opening new venues, and established businesses re-imagining how their space should work. The projects vary wildly. The standard doesn't.

We're deliberately specialists in three sectors — office, education and hospitality — because each rewards real knowledge of how furniture is used, abused and replaced in that environment. It also keeps us honest: we don't pretend to know everything about every commercial interior. What we know, we know well.

Why "Contract Grade" Isn't Marketing

The phrase gets used a lot, so it's worth being specific. Contract-grade furniture is built — and tested — for commercial use. Higher cycle counts on moving parts. Upholstery rated for abrasion well beyond domestic standards. Fire ratings documented to UK regulations (Crib 5 for most hospitality and accommodation upholstery). Warranties measured in years of commercial use, not months of home use.

It matters because the economics of commercial furniture are only visible over time. A chair that fails in a hotel bedroom after eighteen months costs far more than the chair that was twice the price and lasted ten years. The right specification, done once, saves more than it spends — and that's the conversation we'd rather have with every client, even when it means specifying up from the cheapest option.

Every product we supply comes with the full fire, safety and compliance documentation needed for your records, your insurer and your audit trail.

Our Values

The principles that guide every project we take on.

01

Quality First

We source from trusted manufacturers and never compromise on build quality. Every product we supply is contract-grade and built for demanding environments.

02

Client Partnership

We don't just sell furniture — we partner with you. From first consultation to final installation, we're invested in getting the result right.

03

End-to-End Service

Space planning, procurement, delivery, installation and aftercare. We handle the entire process so you don't have to manage multiple suppliers.

04

Honest Pricing

No hidden costs, no surprises. We provide clear, detailed quotations and work within your budget to deliver the best possible outcome.

The Short Version of Why Clients Choose Us

We're big enough to handle multi-site rollouts — a national hotel group refreshing thirty bedrooms at a time, a university re-kitting a faculty building over the summer break, a growing business fitting out a new HQ — and small enough that the same person who scopes your project is the one who answers your email when a delivery note doesn't match. You get the capability of a larger supplier with the accountability of a specialist team.

We're brand-agnostic by design. That means we'll put the right product in front of you rather than the one we have to hit a quarterly target on — and every supplier we work with provides full UK compliance documentation, including fire (Crib 5 where required), BS EN test certification, warranty terms and weight/load data. If you're procuring into a regulated environment, you'll have the paperwork to prove what you've bought before the first piece arrives.

And we think about specification like it matters, because it does. The wrong chair in a 24/7 contact centre. The wrong fabric in a student bedroom. The wrong fire rating in a restaurant. These are the mistakes that cost a lot more to fix than they cost to avoid — which is why we'd rather spend an extra conversation up front than watch a client replace furniture two years in. See examples of projects we've delivered, or tell us about yours.
